More work to do on Girdner - next session, meet at Dawa
Copper Canyon Girls will be with us Saturday to work at Cathedral. This will be
a trial for the Copper Canyon Girls, we may be able to get them to help more.
Templeton, at top of switchbacks, needs work. We will work on the reroute in
January.
HT is closed for the spring due to public safety HT will go under bridge that is
being built on 179.
Boynton Pass has been paved to Marshal Tank.
Fence around John Heath Mesa is still pending.
Terry will send schedule for the 13th and 27th of January, schedule will be for
next 2 months.
Our next meeting will be on January 19, 2007

Schedule:
12/16 - Cathedral Rock, meet at Cathedra Rock trailhead at 9:00
Discussion about the water tanks at Broken Arrow. Bob will draft a letter from
TRACS to the forest service for us to review. Tom suggests that we send
individual letters, also.
TRACS will work on trails on the 3rd Sat of each month until we can get more
interest.
Our next meeting will be on December 15.

TRACS Minutes for
October 20, 2006
Members present: Bob Shuman, Harry Gold, Tom Hutchinson, Shari Walter and forest
service Justin Loxley.
Minutes from the September meeting were approved by Tom and 2nd by Harry.
Petty Cash balance - $111.87
Trails - Justin reported that he is seeing less of the VVCC people at Saturday
work sessions.
TRACS will work on trails on the 3rd Sat of each month until we can get more
interest.
Turkey Creek needs tread work. New social trail at Turkey Creek at the backside
of the parking lot into the trail.
Cairns have been knocked down at the Baldwin trail near Red Rock Crossing.
Woods Canyon trail needs some brushing.
Bob Shuman signed the new Agreement for the forest service, New passes will be
issued in November.
People who get a copy of these minutes via e-mail should reply as to whether
they wish to remain on the TRACS membership roster or not. Currently we only
have about 5-6 members showing up for trail work and at the meetings.
Our next meeting will be on November 17.

TRACS Minutes for
September 15, 2006

1. Minutes from August meeting were not distributed, so October meeting needs
approval of August and September’s minutes.
2. Volunteer hours need to be sent to Karen, as FY closes 9/30/06, and Loxley
would like these hours asap. New FY starts 10/1/06. Harry will continue to give
Karen Saturday hours.
3. Petty Cash: Balance is $111.87, after paying for new shirts.
4. Trail Reports/Schedule:
9/16/06 – Llama Trail
9/30/06 – National Public Lands Day – Red Rock State Park, Slide Rock
8:30-12noon, with lunch provided by Bill Stafford and the City of Sedona.
Karen would appreciate some volunteers helping make wire cairns prior to
NPLD.
10/14/06 – nothing scheduled at this time due to members being out of town.
5. Other dates to remember:
9/21/06 3 pm Woods
Canyon TH for ground breaking of new FS Gateway Center.
10/28/06 Wet Beaver Station – FS picnic for all volunteers
6. Discussion of Mountain
Bike Trail Access handout – although Carol Workus has this, Susan Amon told
Karen that Absolute Bikes has a copy of hers, and Terry Adams can obtain a copy
from them. [found this out after the mtg]
7. Discussion of the findings of Burn Area Emergency Team – Wilson will not be
open to the public. Looking at opening Manzanita, Encinoso, and eventually Brins
and Soldiers Pass, after Justin hikes these trails. Some discussion of Vultee
Arch trail.
Also discussion of the Travel Management Rule, that may go into effect by 2009.
Roads will be marked open, unless marked “closed” and then fines will be
enforced.

TRACS Meeting Minutes
7/21/06
Bob Shuman called the meeting to order at 8:00am
Members present: Harry Gold, Shari Walter, Tom Hutchinson and Justin Loxley,
Forest Sevice.
Tom approved and Bob seconded the June minutes.
Last known petty cash balance: $381.87, of that $276.60 remainder of donation.
Harry is still looking into an economical place to get our t-shirts, It was
decided that we would get 6 long sleeve and 6 short sleeve in large and extra
large. Color forest green with logo in either black or rust color. Harry will
bring a sample shirt to next meeting.
Trail report and schedule: Doug Copp was the only TRACS member that showed up
for last work session, he an Justin worked on the Llama trail. Justin said that
there is one more re-route to do on the Llama trail and would best be done after
a rain. Part of the Llama trail has been re-opened……again.
Schedule:
7/29 - Llama meet at 7:00 at 3rd parking area.
8/5 - Llama 8:00am meet at Bail trail head.
8/19 - Llama 7:00 meet at Bail trail head
Harry suggested starting work at 7:00am due to the heat. Justin is o.k. with
that if someone will be responsible for the work that needs to be done, Justin
will be there around 8:00.
Justin reports that the fire re-hab is nearly finished. North Wilson and
Sterling will be closed for a year. Vultee Arch is still closed. There is a big
problem with loose debris falling. Vegetation in some of the areas have already
started to pop up.
Next meeting Friday, August 18.

TRACS Meeting Minutes
6/16/06
Bob Shuman called the meeting to order at 8:00am
Members present: Shari Walter. Tom Hutchinson and Justin Loxley, Forest Sevice.
Bob Shuman and Harry Gold were appointed co-chairs by the Board.
All trail work is cancelled until next meeting due to people being out of town
or unavailable.
Justin said that he would like to keep trail work scheduled twice a month, the
3rd Saturday being a work session with VVCC.
Justin also announced that Heather Provinsial (sp) has been selected to be our
Division Ranger, replacing Ken Anderson. Heather is an archaeologist from
Flagstaff.
New business: Bob mentioned that the John Heath ruin is still suffering a lot of
damage due to ATV’s and is asking help from the forest service.

TRACS Meeting Minutes
5/19/06
Aaron Seifert called the meeting to order at 8:00am
Members present: Harry Gold, Shari Walter and Karen Dansby.
Treasury Report $381.87 ($276.60 donation money). Bank account has been closed
cash has been turned over to Karen.
Aaron submitted his letter of resignation. Thanks for all you have done Aaron!
Meetings will continue to be the third Friday of the month at 8:00 am meeting at
the Ranger Station in Tequa Plaza in the Village.
Karen announced that Public Lands Day will be held at Red Rock State Park on
Sept 30, at 9:00am to 12:00 noon.
Harry will find a new source for T-Shirts, he will get Large and X-Large with
long sleeves.
Graffiti at Boynton trail, on rock wall was discussed, Karen will mail photos to
Shari and she will contact Nate Hansen at the Red Rock News to see if he will do
an article on the graffiti problem.
Future trail projects:
5/20 - Llama Trail with VVCC
6/3 - Llama Trail
6/17 - Llama Trail with VVCC

4/21/06
Aaron Seifert called the meeting to order at 8:00am
Members present: Shari Walter and Karen Dansby. Forest service: Terry Adams

Trail Reports
Karen reported a lot of graffiti on rock wall at Boynton Trail. Terry will talk
to Justin. Karen and Shari have volunteered to help remove.
Future trail projects:
April 22 - National Trails Day at Dead Horse State Park, for those interested.
May 6 - Llama Trail. Meet at Little Bell Parking area at 8:00am
May 20th - Llama Trail.
Earth Day - Sunset Park cleanup 9:00 - 11:00am, then BBQ
Arbor Day - Plant 12 trees - 9:00 - 11:00am Posse Grounds
Doug Copp is developing a bike plan in conjunction with VVCC with possible
adoption by Parks and Rec.
Karen reports that ILX is proposing to give a Heritage Park to the City of
Sedona. They are hoping to make a deal with the school for parking spaces. A
change in the community plan will have to be made.
Aaron has asked that next meeting we come up with suggestions about a new
chairperson. Aaron has been commuting from Flagstaff for our meetings for over a
year now and also is becoming more involved in trail projects at Flagstaff. It
is becoming more of a problem for him to come down for trail work and meetings.
He would like to have someone else take over as chairperson. Aaron has done a
great job as chairperson and we will all hate to see him go, but we understand.
Next meeting will be May 19th at the forest service station in Tequa Plaza in
VOC at 8:00am

Trail Reports
Fencing and reveging at Bell Rock Pathway
Hog Trail is open again
Lot of 4-wheelers on trails in VOC, particularly Turkey Creek and Baldwin. New
4-wheel shop open in VOC is probably the problem.
We would like Justin to send out e-mails regarding Saturday morning trail work,
he can then cancel if no one responds. Shari will send him the TRACS e-mail
address list.
Next meeting will be at the forest service station in Tequa Plaza in VOC at
8:00am
A reminder to send volunteer hours to Karen.

2/17/06

Old Business:
1. B. Shuman will ask Harry about long sleeve shirts.
2. Update on Sedona Marathon – very successful with 1100 participants. Aaron
will be meeting with company to debrief next week.
3. Justin is the Volunteer Coordinator for Llama work. Terry will continue to
attend meetings.
4. Terry discussed that if TRACS volunteers want to help if the FS has fire
closures to contact him directly.

5. Llama Trail for next 3 dates: 2/18, 3/4 and 3/18. Work from 8-12 noon
6. Acceleration of off-trail building is occurring in various spots around
Sedona. Members are encouraged to let FS know if they see illegal work being
done.
a. ATV and garbage are ongoing problems. There is state legislation re: ATVs,
hoping to move forward to licensure such as the Green Sticker Fund in
California.
b. Encourage all TRACS members to be educated in keeping trash and new trails
from being built to contact Terry directly.
7. FS moving 4/1/06. TRACS meeting on 3/17/06 will be at FS on Brewer Road. The
4/21/06 Tracs meeting will be at FS building near Tequa Plaza.
8. Discussion of other trail work that is needed:
a. Dry Creek Road access to Brins Mesa first � mile.
b. Tree Farm – road south to Cockscomb Trail needs brushing.
9. Discussion of survey crew that is hoping to pave road to Bear Mountain, Fay
Canyon redo of trailhead, and create a parallel trail for hiking to Enchantment.

January 20, 2006
Aaron Seifert called the meeting to order at 8:00am.
December minutes were approved by Bob Shuman and seconded by Karen Dansby.
Members present: Karen Dansby. Bob Shuman, Harry Gold, Tom Hutchinson and Shari
Walter. Guest: Christine (?) Forest service - Christa Roughan
Treasury: $390.87.of which $276.60 is tool donation.
Trail Reports - Hot Loop is in bad shape, Christa would like to see the
equestrians adopt this trail since they use it the most.
Cat Claw is across the trail on the upper part of Woods Cyn trail.
Several people mentioned an interest in doing spontaneous trail work (brushing,
trimming, light trail work) on a Sat that nothing is scheduled or during the
week. Those interested should check with Tom, he will call forest service for
approval. A trail boss must be present when doing this work and trail class
category must be followed.
Trail work schedule: TRACS will be working every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the
month from 8:00am to noon. The third Saturday will be our big work day. We will
receive a schedule via e-mail from the Forest Service.
January 21 - Llama Trail
January 28 - Lime Kiln Trail at Red Rock State Park
Feburary 4 - Little Horse trail (our adopted trail)
February 18 - Llama Trail
Harry is still working on an order for t-shirts.
New business: Proposal to disban our checking account - the bank charges us
$10/month which equals $120 year. Since Bette is our treasurer, she will keep
the money and disburse it as needed. Members will be asked to chip in for
expenses if need be. Moved by Karen seconded by Bob.
Forest service will be moving in March, we will have to find a new meeting place
-----any ideas?
Next TRACS meeting is February 17, 2006

Minutes December 16, 2005
Aaron Seifert called the meeting to order at 8:00am.
Members present: Ian Wickson, Karen Dansby and Shari Walter. Forest service -
Christa Roughan, and Terry Adams.
Treasury: $398.87.of which $276.60 is tool donation.
Membership renewals are due in January. VVCC had TRACS membership details in
their last newsletter. Karen suggested that next year we coordinate with VVCC in
a joint membership drive.
Aaron invited members of Flagstaff Bike Org to work on the Llama Trail on 12/17
and 1/7.
We need to reprint and update our old TRACS brochure on trail etiquette that Don
Troutman designed and had printed, Ian volunteered to do this.
Karen reported on the Jordan Preserve. Parks and Rec is waiting for a decision
from the City. City wants to put in a concrete bridge and terminal across creek.
Parks and Rec’s position is to leave it as is - put money in escrow until a
decision from City.
Trail Reports - A crew worked on the Llama Trail Sat.3, from 8:00am to noon,
followed by a BBQ at Bike and Bean. There were approximately 20 people. Ian
reported that someone has reopened a part of the trail that was closed, pulled
up vegetation, etc., and suggested after it is closed again we put up re-veg
signs.
VVCC will adopt the Llama trail w/TRACS helping.
Trail work schedule: TRACS will be working every 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the
month. We will receive a schedule via e-mail from the Forest Service. This
schedule will coincide with the Flagstaff bike/trail group.
Saturday, December 17th - Llama trail - BBQ follows
January 7 - Llama Trail
January 21 - Llama Trail
January 28 - Lime Kiln Trail at Red Rock State Park
Work hours change from 8:00 to noon on Saturdays.
Karen and John Dansby have volunteered to host our Holiday Party again this year
(thanks guys!!!!). It will start at 6:00 on January 7. Karen will provide the
main dish and let all of us know what we should bring. Call Karen to RSVP.
Aaron asked that the BOD get together and bring ideas of membership and fund
raising to the next meeting.

October 21, 2005
Aaron Seifert called the meeting to order at 8:00am.

Walter. Forest service - Christa Roughan. Guest: Marie Brown, City of Sedona
Minutes of last meeting approved by Bob Shuman and second by Tom Hutchinson
Treasury: $544.82.87 of which $276.60 is tool donation.
Marie Brown, Parks and Recreation City of Sedona, handed out information on the
Vision for Future Parks and Recreation Amenities for Sedona. “The Park and
Recreation Commission and staff are embarking on an outreach program to discover
what the citizens perceive as future park and recreation needs.” All Sedona
residents will receive a survey to help identify the missing components that
need to be placed in a Park and Recreation Master Plan.
Aaron will be doing a benefit ride for MS. Anyone wishing to donate please
contact Aaron before November 1. Is was moved by Bob and second by Tom that
TRACS donate $50.
Trail Reports - TRACS worked on Templeton at the creek where it was washed out.
We worked at Deadman’s last week at the place where a man was injured.
Trail problems - he sign at Templeton and Bell Rock has been broken in half.
Munds Wagon trail has a lot of erosion and the trail is dangerous in places.
Trail work schedule: 10/29 - Munds Wagon Trail
11/12 - either Llama or West Fork (check with forest service)
Christa has asked that we contact her about signs that need attention.
Christa reported that work can proceed with Llama and other trail work that was
put on hold.
Tentative date for work on Llama is November 12. TRACS and VVCC will put on a
BBQ at the end of trail work. Contact Christa at the forest service office.
Next TRACS meeting is November 18, 2005
A reminder - Saturday trail work starts at 8:00 and we have been meeting at the
Ranger Station.

TRACS Minutes
September 15, 2005
Tom Hutchinson called the meeting to order at 8:00am.
Members present: Bob Shuman, Ian Wickson and Shari Walter. Forest service -
Christa Roughan and Terry Adams
Treasury: $568.87 of which $276.60 is tool donation.
Ian passed around a draft mountain bike brochure that FOF is working on. FOF is
asking for suggestions, corrections and comments.
The equestrian brochure will be discussed next meeting - need a map and
recommendations.
Public Relations will be discussed next meeting when Karen is back. Once the
date is set Karen can help at city and other places. Aaron will start contacting
businesses to get sponsors or donations for food or give-aways.
Trail reports:
Worked on Girdner Trail last week
FOF has worked on the Big Park Loop and it looks nice.
Lime Kiln is marked to Red Rock State Park from Dead Horse State Park. Terry
reported that the lime kiln has been destroyed by vandals.
Mail Trail has 156 cairns, it goes to General Crook Trail, will have trail head
in next month.
Centennial Trail - Norm Herkenham hiked the trail and put in signs that identify
the vegetation, grand opening will be in November.
Ian Wickson has a group of mountain bikers that will work on the Llama trail and
has planned a BBQ after the trail work - Ian will coordinate with Terry Adams
and will notify everyone when the work day will be. Verde Valley Cycling
Coalition or Bike and Bean will adopt the Llama trail. Terry Adams will look
into what is involved in order to officially adopt a trail.
Trails that need work:
Baldwin needs work - washed out in places
HT is brushed over - closing in on trail
Schedule changes:
September 24 - cancelled
October 1 - Templeton, meet at the Red Rock Crossing trail head off Verde Valley
School Road
October 8 - cancelled
October 15 - Deadman’s, meet at Boynton Trailhead
October 22 - there will be no trail work. Annual Volunteer picnic put on by the
forest service will be at the Beaver Creek Ranger Station.
Please let Dexter know if you will be working on a scheduled trail, so that he
can plan.
Other scheduled activities:
September 24th
Free Day on forest service land - no permit will be required on that day
Verde Valley River Day
Public Lands’ Day - Mormon Lake - Schedule is a separate attachment.
